Old is New is New

Summer, especially this summer, has turned out to be a bad time to write about style and fashion. For the past month or so it seems like everyone has been trying to wear as little as humanly possible and accessorizing with sunblock and bug spray. Today's 75-and-sunshine weather feels blissfully cool by comparison. Now that simply moving around doesn't leave you dripping in sweat its a good time to attempt a seasonal closet cleanout. By this point it's pretty obvious what summer clothes are receiving the bulk of the wear, what's just taking up space, and what pieces would take your wardrobe to the next level. Get this done in the next week or so and you'll be richly rewarded with the best opportunity Albany can give you to sell your stuff and add awesome- and affordable- clothes to your collection.

A few weeks ago my fabulous (and extremely stylish and resourceful) friend Addy let me know that the semi-annual Old is New sale will be cropping up again during the first weekend in August at Saint Sophia's Church on Whitehall Road in Albany. This massive year-old sale features middle-to-high end men's and women's clothes and accessories and home decor.
There's still plenty of time to consign all the stuff that's been cluttering up your closet, and the perks are pretty awesome- pay a $10 consigner fee, drop your stuff off, get a chance to pre-shop the sale before it's open to the public, and get 70% of the profits. If you don't have clothes to sell you can still get a chance to get in on the pre-sale by volunteering for two three hour shifts. And if neither of these options work for you there's still a chance to get your bargain shopping on. On the final day of the sale, August 4th, sellers have the option of leaving their unsold merchandise up for sale at half of its original price. I've heard nothing but good things about the unique pieces friends have found at the sale and am looking forward to adding a few new touches to my fall wardrobe!

The Old is New Consignment Sale runs August 2nd to 4th at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church in Albany. Go to www.oldisnew.com  for hours and more information.
